Conducting Competition 2015

OUPhil is now auditioning for its new conductor to take over from Trinity 2015 until Hilary 2016. Please submit the following by Sunday 1st February (3rd Week) to

  • Name
  • Brief CV
  • Sample programme(s)

The first round will take place on Saturday Week 3, HT 2015, conducting the first movement of Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony, with a final round to follow on Wednesday Week 4, conducting the full orchestra in Borodin’s Second Symphony, first movement. Exact timings TBC.

Results for Concerto Competition 2014

Congratulations to Dan Mort, the winner of the Concerto Competition 2014! Dan will be playing Copland’s Clarinet Concerto with OUPhil in Hilary Term.

The runner up this year was Rebecca McNaught with Elgar’s Cello Concerto.

The standard of the competition this year was extremely high, and OUPhil would like to congratulate all applicants on their impressive performances.


Composition Competition 2014

Congratulations to Huw Belling for being selected to compose a piece for the orchestra to be performed in Hilary 2015! We look forward to hearing his work.
